Human Services Diploma
This program offers the skills and knowledge needed in helping people. Throughout the program, students will gain the necessary skills, professionalism, conduct required to be a competent human service worker. The program gives hands-on experiences of a human service worker through classroom and co-curricular activities such as practicum and field experiences. Human services students will be trained to help and support vulnerable populations and at-risk groups in achieving an optimum quality of life. Students will also gain valuable research skills, ethics, group work, interviewing, case management as well as community development skills. Human Service Workers are trained in skills essential to the client relationship. These skills include:

- Consulting with other workers and agencies

In addition to skill training, Brookes College’s Human Services program provides knowledge and values components to practice these skills. A major component of human services education is experiential learning. Our program provides extensive field-based experiences in a variety of community agencies. Such practical experience allows the student to integrate knowledge and skills and thereby demonstrate competency.
Career Choices
Graduates from our Human Services program will be prepared for employment in the human service, mental health and community living fields. You will learn to build purposeful relationships that promote increased levels of care on health and wellbeing of individuals, families and groups within the community.
